Very Good Sonic Solution for the Budget-Minded Individual, February 17, 2010 By Paul S. Remington (Rochester, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Pair of Brand New Jl Audio C2-525x 5 1/4" 2 Way Speakers with Silk Dome Tweeters (Electronics) I installed this 5-1/4", two-way set of JL Audio speakers in my 2000 Buick Century as part of an upgrade from the GM stock system. I installed a bottom-of-the-line Kenwood head unit with two 6x9" JL Audio speakers in the rear deck behind the back seats. These speakers were installed in the front doors. Following the installation, I demoed the new system.
And was amazed at the sonic quality for the money! JL Audio produces an excellent budget-minded speaker that faithfully reproduces sound cleanly and accurately. But, that stated, don't expect these little guys to reproduce the low end by themselves. They do a fine job on their own, but they're not designed for "heavy lifting." The 6x9" speakers I installed in the rear deck do a much better job at dishing out the low frequencies. These 5-1/4" speakers are a very good supportive pair to bring the sonic theater to the forefront, but shouldn't be expected to provide heart-throbbing levels of sound.

These speakers sound great! They have surprising good bass for their size,but since adding a sub have them cutoff @ 100hz. I hate tinny or shrilly sounding tweeters/speakers These are NOT. The silk dome tweeters have a nice crisp natural sound and the woofers, nice tight bass/midbass!!! With only 25 watts rms they play loud and clear,with no distortion. Would buy these again, in a heartbeat.
